Cody Dewayne Bradford's Obituary
On Thursday, Sept 1st, we lost a compassionate educator and community member, Cody Bradford, to the darkness and pain of a lifelong struggle with mental health.
This community grieves the loss of a beloved friend, mentor, and guide. Cody dedicated his life to taking people out into the mountains and teaching them how to be in the mountains safely and enjoyably. Cody was an advocate for the poor and the marginalized. He had the biggest heart and cared deeply for his friends.
Cody's high speed wit and incredible passion for making the world a better place, made him quick to the punchline and an enthusiastic, deep conversationalist. In another life, Cody could have been an urban planner, a politician, a father. He was an incredible bass player and loved hip hop and old school rap.
Cody was given little but took the world by storm. No one could ever tell him that he wouldn't achieve his goals. With over 65,000 followers, his Instagram account proved to the world that he was successful. Cody loved to spend time in the mountains, on the rock, on the snow or on the ice.
We will miss him deeply.
Cody will be cremated and we will plan to scatter his ashes in a few months. Plans are still being decided, but likely we will have services in the Wasatch (Salt Lake City) and in Red Rock (Vegas). We will reach out once we have more details.
