Bonnie Jorgensen's Obituary
Bonnie Mell Palfreyman Jorgensen, age 86, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018 at Country Lane Assisted Living in Sandy, Utah under the loving care of her daughter Susan Ahlman and an attentive caregiving staff. Bonnie was born on March 5, 1932 in Salt Lake City, UT to Earl and Eleanor Palfreyman. Bonnie was the third of four children. Her siblings were Betty (Ames), Earlene (Silver) and Earl Palfreyman. Bonnie was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from East High School in 1949. Bonnie learned to play the piano at a young age and become a very accomplished pianist. She loved music and continued playing the piano throughout her life.
While attending the University of Utah in 1951, she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Jorgensen. They married on February 15, 1952 in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dick and Bonnie had an enviable marriage and were completely devoted and dedicated to each other. Upon Dick’s graduation from the University of Utah, and his subsequent military service, they moved to Fullerton, California in 1957 where they began to raise their growing family. The family later moved to Orange, California in 1965 and then to Riverside, California in 1986. Bonnie was dedicated to supporting her husband Dick with his advertising agency “The Jorgensen Company” as well as being wholly focused in the raising of their seven children; Patricia, Julie, Susan, Joyce, Richard, David and Scott. Bonnie was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved serving her church members as a Primary President, Relief Society Counselor and Cub Scout Leader. However, her most memorable church calling was serving as the Chorister for the children in the Primary. Her energetic and bubbly personality was infectious to all the children she taught to sing. Bonnie will be remembered as a fun-loving, talented, active, animated and devoted mother who loved her family more than anything else in life. In addition to raising her large family and serving in her Church, Bonnie enjoyed taking a walk every day, sewing, gardening and shopping!
Bonnie is survived by her brother Earl (Carolyn) Palfreyman), six of her children, Julie Lindahl, Susan (Robert) Ahlman, Joyce (Kevin) Wilson, Richard (April) Jorgensen, David (Kristen) Jorgensen, Scott (Amy) Jorgensen, 36 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Jorgensen, her daughter Patricia Frustaci, and her four grandchildren, James, Bonnie, David and Christina Frustaci.
A viewing will be held on September 7th, from 6-8PM and a funeral on September 8th at 11AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 2195 E Pepperwood Dr, Sandy Utah. A visitation will be held from 10-11AM. Internment will take place at Olivewood Cemetery in Riverside, California under the care of Wiscombe Memorial.
