Stanley M Seale's Obituary
Stanley Marlin Seale, age 72, of Salt Lake City, Utah died Sunday March 26, 2017 of complications following heart surgery. Born October 4, 1944 in Burbank, California, he was the son of Robert Leslie and Helen Carlotta (Hoover) Seale.
Stan was a gifted professional jazz piano player with an extensive performing, producing, composing, engineering and arranging career. At the young age of 13 he played piano for the jazz band at North Hollywood High School. He studied music composition at L.A. Valley Jr. College. His first professional engagement was in the 1950’s with Desilu Productions where he played for Little Ricky on the I Love Lucy TV show. He also appeared on the Dinah Shore show and later accompanied the Capitol Records Lettermen trio as well as the Udy Sisters of the Lawrence Welk Show. He played with his jazz band on a Vietnam tour then returned to Los Angeles and formed the Counter Point band. Stan, along with partners James Howard and Dan Whitley started a talent booking agency in the 1960’s which was successful. He signed a recording contract with Nico Records of Hollywood Palace and arranged/produced/co-authored music for the record label. He also did all the arrangements for musicals such as Open Any Door, Windows of Light, Christmas Stranger and others. He played organ for the Taylorsville LDS Spanish Branch. He appeared with the Children’s Miracle Telethon as the orchestra leader for the all night band. He also produced the Silverado Children’s Chorus in Southern Utah which competed internationally. In recent years he performed for Norwegian Cruise lines to Hawaii including a Canadian railroad tour. He worked with the SunShade N’Rain trio, arranged the music for Olympus High School choir & musicals including Les Miserables and Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He recorded his only piano solo album called ‘Quiet Moods’. His real love was playing for the Salt Lake Cityjazz band and the Notable Youth jazz orchestra and taught many of their students. Stan was a great friend, talented musician and patient teacher to many and will be sorely missed until we meet again!
Stan is survived by his wife Florcita D. Seale, son Alex of Salt Lake City, daughters Jennifer and Stephany of Port Angeles, Washington, and grand children.
Stan is preceded in death by his parents, wife Cheryl Baker Seale, and sister Evelyn Seale Otstot.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday March 30th at 11 a.m. visitation with service at noon at The Woods on Ninth, 6775 S. 900 E., Midvale.
