Sarah Dawn Goulette's Obituary
Sarah Dawn Goulette, 45, Carrington, ND died Saturday, September 24, 2022 after an extended battle with heart and kidney failure. She was surrounded by her children and family at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
Born Sarah Dawn Crowe on December 2, 1976 in Los Angeles, CA, she said a few days before passing, “I was born and raised in California, but I grew up in North Dakota.” Sarah finished high school in Moreno Valley, CA and not long after established a home and family in Edgeley, ND. Even though her poor health was a lifelong burden, Sarah lived every moment on her own terms.
When she was 3 years old, Sarah was diagnosed with advanced Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. During this illness, Sarah spent countless hours watching ambulances come and go from her hospital window. She claimed that was when she decided to be a paramedic. Sarah started volunteering with EMS in high school and continued volunteering in Edgeley, ND. She worked hard to complete training first as an EMT, then as a Paramedic. She served for over 20 years in communities all over North and South Dakota, including two Native American reservations and finally settled in Carrington, ND in 2021. Sarah continued to volunteer, traveling out of state to assist in the aftermath of national disasters, including Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Sarah built many treasured friendships over the years and loved her children as fiercely as she loved life. She sacrificed much to give all her children the best lives she possibly could. A quote Sarah hung on the wall in her home says, “And the moon said to me…my darling you do not have to be whole in order to shine.” And most certainly, Sarah shined bright for all whose lives she touched.
Sarah is survived by her children, parents, brothers and sisters, her dear friends and dozens of extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents and father.
A small memorial will be held at a future date in LaPush, Washington.
