Osvaldo Carlos da Silva's Obituary
Osvaldo Carlos da Silva
"Bado" - "Osvaldinho"
Our dearest Osvaldo, age 85, peacefully passed away on March 16th at his home in Midvale, UT surrounded by his family.
He was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil , on April 4th, 1933 to Carlos Silva and Raimunda Vaz de Mello.
Osvaldo grew up in Brazil and was the middle child of 5. He had a spunky and charming personality.
Osvaldo started working on cars when he was only 14 years old! He was a remarkable auto mechanic.
He worked for General Motors for over 50 years. If you’re Brazilian and live in the Salt Lake area, chances are he’s fixed your car at some point. He could even diagnose issues over the phone sometimes.
He married the love of his life, Lucia Dias Silva, on November 4th, 1961. They had 5 children – Patricia, William, Wilton, Katia and Flavia.
Osvaldo was always the life of the party…so happy and his smile was contagious. He loved music and dancing, he was known as a “pe de valsa”!
He also loved soccer, his favorite Brazilian team was Cruzeiro. RSL became his favorite American team.
Osvaldo loved nature and traveling, something that he passed onto his children. He was happiest when spending time with his family and together they went on many adventures around Brazil and USA.
In 2004 he moved to Utah and has lived with his daughter Flavia since. He worked as a mechanic and his Brazilian clients became his friends. He and Flavia were inseparable and went on many adventures including Las Vegas, Alaska and Hawaii to name a few.
Osvaldo is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Raimunda Silva, and his sister Beatriz. He is survived by his sisters Maristela and Helenice, his brother Marcio, and by his loving wife Lucia Silva, his sons William Silva (Eliana) and Wilton Silva, and daughters Patricia Silva, Katia Mattioli (Andre) and Flavia Beare (Lance), and by his 7 grandchildren (Felipe, Marcella, Ana, Isabella, Matheus, Lara and Petra -who spent every day of her life with “granpa vovo Bado”) including 2 great-grandchildren (Antonella and Emett Osvaldo – to be born in August 2019). Osvaldo’s biggest treasure was his family whom he loved and adored.
Funeral Services will be held at the LDS Church Winder 17th Ward at 1495 East 4705 South, Holladay, UT on Saturday, March 23rd. Viewing from 10am-12pm and service at 12:15-1:00pm.
