Nancy Clarke Mitchell's Obituary
Nancy Clarke Trappe Mitchell, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on September 15, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Nancy was born on May 2, 1933, in Long Beach, California, the only child and beloved daughter of Henry H Trappe and Margaret M Weston. Her early years were spent in Cincinnati, Ohio, and she often spoke fondly of the joyful memories of her childhood.
Upon graduating from high school, Nancy ventured to California, where she embarked on a new chapter of her life. It was there that she met and married Arnold Merrill Peery. They exchanged vows on November 13, 1954, later solemnized in the Los Angeles Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints Temple. Later divorced.
Nancy relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she raised her three children, Clifford Peery, Debbie Nielsen, and Nancy Riddle. It was in Salt Lake City that she met and married Francis John Mitchell. Her union with Frank brought new love and companionship into her life, and they shared many happy moments together. Sadly, he passed away in January of 1984
Nancy was a devoted mother and grandmother, pouring her love and care into her family. Her role as a mother was the most significant and fulfilling of her life, and her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Her warmth and love created a haven of comfort for those she held dear.
Throughout her life, Nancy was known for her dedication as a bookkeeper, honing her knowledge over many years. She was highly regarded as a valuable employee who could not be easily replaced.
Nancy was not only a loving family woman but also a caring member of her community. She dedicated herself to community nursing, service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and worked as a crossing guard until June of this year, embodying the spirit of compassion and generosity.
Nancy Clarke Trappe Mitchell is survived by her children, Clifford Peery, Deborah Nielsen, and Nancy Riddle (Kurt), and her grandchildren, Thomas (Kadie), Scott (Jen), Nicholas(Joanna), Megan, Michael, Nathan (Kelsey), Kate, Kelsey, and Amy (Hyrum), as well as 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish the love and memories they shared with her. She also leaves behind a wide circle of friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.
A private memorial service to celebrate her life will be held by the family She will deeply be missed and cherished forever.
