Michael Edward Fawks' Obituary
Michael Edward Fawks Sr., age 75, left our world for new adventures on Friday, April 20th after suffering a sudden cardiac event. Mike was a loving companion, genuinely caring for others, always with a smile and a kind word. Born June 29th, 1942 in Claremore, Oklahoma, he was adopted into the Fawks family. He graduated from Oklahoma University and loved playing college football. Mike served in the Army as a Green Beret Platoon Officer in Plaku, Vietnam, and he lost the sight in his right eye as a result of wounds in combat. Mike had an adventurous life. Mike found out he had three birth brothers, two he had played football against without either of them knowing they were related. He worked with Motorola as a Marketing Director, and, in later years, retired as Senior Employment Counselor for Easter Seals. Mike was preceded in death by brothers Bob Weber and Roy Phares, sister Bobbie Mayberry, sons David Fawks and Michael Fawks, Jr. Friends are invited to celebrate Mike’s life at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery chapel, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, at 2PM Tuesday, May 1st, with internment to follow.
