Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Ross' Obituary
Mary (Libby) Elizabeth Ross
1950 - 2017
We sadly announce the passing of a cherished mother, dear sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin, niece and best friend on July 3, 2017 from a long illness and complications of kidney failure. She had been diagnosed with Lupus and RA in September of 2001 and suffered greatly the last few years.
Mary Elizabeth (Libby) was born February 8, 1950 to Frank Marion and Mary Magdalene Sweitzer Ross, in Keyser, West Virginia. She was the oldest of the Vale Summit Road Ross clan. She attended elementary schools in Lavale and Midland Elementary; she graduated from Valley High School, Lonaconing, Maryland, in 1968. She continued her education at Allegany Community College. She worked over 40 years for Nabisco (later Kraft Foods) in Utah.
When she was learning to walk; our mother noticed her left leg was smaller/weaker so took her in to the doctor where polio was diagnosed. Libby spent long weeks in the Children's Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. Even longer months with a cast on her leg after having the first tendon transfer from her right ankle to her left at the hospital. She was a fighter and along with loving care from our mother; she walked, played sports and everything but roller skate. A trooper...just like our mother!!! When she was diagnosed with Lupus, she used her God-given determination to do whatever she could to fight this disease too. She fought a great battle!
She delighted in being the mother of daughter, Megan Brittany Ross, whom she loved, cherished and fought to insure Megan could be successful in everything she did too. She won that fight!
Libby leaves behind her daughter, Megan; sisters, Becky Ross of Lehi, Utah; and Joan (Paul) Christiansen of Grantsville, Utah; brothers, Tom (Bonnie) Ross and Don (Meg) Ross of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as well as loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank in 2010, mother, Mary (2001), nephew Todd (2001), grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the LDS Chapel in Lehi. The viewing will be starting at 10:00 AM with services beginning at 11:00 in Chapel.
Honorary pallbearers are Tom Ross, Don Ross, Paul Christiansen, Mark Christiansen, Andy Christiansen, Drew Christiansen, Mckay Millward and Cody Millward.
Family welcomes flowers or contributions can be made to her daughter, Megan Ross, 566 North 1200 East, Lehi, Utah 84043.
