Martin Siegel Mayer's Obituary
Martin Siegel Mayer, husband, father, uncle and grandfather, age 93, passed away in his sleep Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 25, 1926 to Adele Siegel Mayer and Dr. Willard D. Mayer. Marty lived a long and active life. Was a great teller of stories, World War ll Veteran, University of Michigan alumni, Lifelong Mason, VP and General Manager of the former woman’s clothing company, B. Siegel’s. He enjoyed golf, skiing, traveling, his weekly poker games and was an avid tennis player. In addition he never gave up on the Detroit Tigers, and Lions. Marty alongside his wife Sally, donated to numerous charitable causes within the greater metro Detroit area. Donations in honor of Marty can be made via The AJC-Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
He is survived by his children Michael, Ruthie (John Murphy), and Carrie. His two grandchildren Calissa Mayer and Jacob Murphy. In addition, our dear friend Kim Waples and her two children.
Preceded in death by his wife Sally Friedman Mayer, of 63 years, on December 24, 2019.
Memorial Service to be announced at a future date.
