Margo Gay Petty's Obituary
Margo Gay Petty, age 80, passed away on January 25, 2018 in her home in Taylorsville, Utah due to Alzheimer’s.
Margo was born on January 12, 1938 in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah to Juliana Dorathy Helena Marie Schutze and John Edwin Owens.
Margo went by many loving nicknames . . . Bubby, Kitten, “Mom” to many, and Nana. Margo was a bookkeeper, construction worker, and retired as a Medical Transcriptionist. Margo loved horses, hummingbirds, butterflies, roses, Elvis, and helping animals or people in need. Her hobbies were clock making and wood work. Margo is survived by her eldest sister, LaJuana Rueckert, little brother, Quentin Owens, and many, many nieces and nephews. Margo will be dearly missed by her Grandson, who is her pride and joy, Jarred Craig Lemke, and her daughter Julie Ann Leathers. Margo is preceded in Death by her Father and Mother.
Margo was blessed by her “unofficially adopted” daughter Mrs. Paulaine DeNardis, and an Angel sent by God, Victor Leo Segura, whose Military Medical experience allowed him to give excellent comfort and care to Margo these last few years in her time of need. Julie, Jarred, and Leo were supervised in her daily care by her surviving cat, “Smokey”, who never left her side and made sure we cared for her according to “his” unwavering standards.
Recently Margo’s wise niece, Becky, said, “We will see Margo all around us if we just pay attention.” So, when you see the strength of a horse, the energy of a hummingbird, the tenderness of a butterfly, or the beauty of a rose in bloom . . . please pause for the pleasure of feeling the loving presence of Margo, who now dwells in the peaceful serenity of our Creator, and has received the Eternal salvation of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We are all sincerely grateful to Margo for sharing her humor, kisses on the top of our head, her words of wisdom over her 24/7 pot of coffee, her compassion for all people, and the love she shared with us all.
