Julia Ureta Ortiz's Obituary
Our Beloved Sister, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Julia Ureta Ortiz. Passed away peacefully in her home on December 31, 2022, on New Year's Eve surrounded by her loving family, in South Jordan Utah at the age of 94. She was born July 26, 1928, in the district of Huaribamba department of Huancavelica, Peru to Justinio Ureta and Gertrudes Ortiz. She married Macario Contreras Alarcon and together they had seven wonderful children.
Julia was the oldest out of four brothers and sisters. She was an example of strength, hard work, and responsibility. She was known to always be there for her beloved mother. She raised all her children as a single mom after the death of her husband and never remarried. Julia was always happy and kind, she taught her children by example to be humble, grateful for life, and to be respectful to others. She was always proud of her children's achievements and loved celebrating their success as her own.
Julia liked to crochet and sew little clothing pieces for family members and herself. She loved to read her scripture as often as she could. She enjoyed visiting family in Peru. Julia was always there for the needy. She enjoyed going with the missionaries to share her testimony.
Julia is a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She joined in 1986. She was sealed to her husband and deceased children in 1990 and then later would get sealed to her youngest daughter Esther and her family in 2016. She dedicated several years of her life working on Genealogy as she traveled about Peru looking for family names. She had a strong faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. Julia loved to sing her hymns, was a very faithful tithe giver, and was known to give very powerful prayers. She really was a faithful follower of Christ.
Julia was able to be a mother for an 8th time for some years to her Granddaughter Sandra Beus (Sulca). When one of her sons passed away she was able to mend her pain by raising Sandra as her own. Abuelita Julia was more than a grandmother to Sandra; she was mom and dad. She dedicated her life to raising her, they both needed each other and In Abuelitas own words "Sandra was her medicine".
In 2002 Julia came to live in the United States with Esther, her youngest Daughter. She blessed the family with her abundance of love. She truly loved this country with all her heart. She would become a permanent resident of the U.S. Which made her final wish that she would be buried in the United States.
She is survived by her brother Lucio Ramos Ortiz, her children, Florencia Contreras, Zosimo Contreras, Nicita Contreras and husband Carlos Huarez, Esther Smith and Husband Jeffery Smith. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many other family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents Justinio Ureta, Gertrudis Ortiz, her husband Macarios Contreras, and siblings Beatriz Ureta, Mamerto Ramos. Her three children Gonzalo Contreras, Hugo Contreras, and Esther Contreras, and her grandson Gonzalo Rojas Conteras.

Naci el 26 de julio de 1928 en el distrito de Huaribamba departamento de Huancavelica, Per sus padres fueron Justinio Ureta y Gertrudes Ortiz. Se cas con Macario Contreras Alarc n y juntos tuvieron siete hijos maravillosos.
Julia era la mayor de cuatro hermanos y hermanas. Fue un ejemplo de fortaleza, trabajo y responsabilidad. Ella era conocida por estar siempre ah para su amada madre. Cri a todos sus hijos como madre soltera despu s de la muerte de su esposo nunca se volvi a casar. Julia siempre fue alegre y amable, ense a sus hijos con el ejemplo a ser humildes, agradecidos con la vida y respetuosas con los dem s. Siempre estuvo orgullosa de los logros de sus hijos y le encantaba celebrar sus xitos como propio.
A Julia le gustaba tejer y coser peque as piezas de ropa para los miembros de la familia y para ella misma. Le encantaba leer las Escrituras tan a menudo como pod a. Le gustaba visitar a su familia en Per . Julia siempre estuvo ah para los necesitados. Le gustaba ir con los misioneros a compartir su testimonio.
Julia es miembre de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los ltimos D as desde 1986. Se sell a su esposo e hijos fallecidos en 1990 y luego se sellar a a su hija menor Esther y su familia en 2016. Dedic varios a os de su vida a trabajar en Genealog a mientras viajaba por Per recopilando datos. Ella ten a una fe inquebrantable en su Salvador Jesucristo. A Julia le encantaba cantar himnos de la iglesia, era una dadora de diezmos muy fiel y era conocida por dar oraciones muy espirituales. Ella realmente era una fiel seguidora de Cristo.
Julia pudo ser madre por octava vez de su nieta Sandra Beus (Sulca). Cuando uno de sus hijos falleci , pudo curar su dolor criando a Sandra como una hija propia. Abuellita Julia fue m s que una abuela para Sandra; ella era mam y pap . Dedic su vida a criarla, y le dedico los mejores anos de su vida. En sus propias palabras "Sandra era su medicina".
En 2002 Julia vino a vivir a Estados Unidos con Esther, su hija menor. Ella bendijo a la familia con todo el amor que tenia. Ella realmente amaba este pa s con todo su coraz n. Se convertir a en residente permanente de los EE. UU. Lo que hizo que su ltimo deseo fuera ser enterrada en los Estados Unidos en el estado de Utah.
Le sobreviven su hermano Lucio Ramos Ortiz, sus hijos Florencia Contreras, Zosimo Contreras, Nicita Contreras y esposo Carlos Huarez, Esther Smith y esposo ,Jeffrey Smith. Tambi n le sobreviven 22 nietos, 18 bisnietos y muchos otros miembros de la familia.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Justinio Ureta, Gertrudis Ortiz, su esposo Macarios Contreras y sus hermanos Beatriz Ureta, Mamerto Ramos. Sus tres hijos Gonzalo Contreras, Hugo Contreras y Esther Contreras, y su nieto Gonzalo Rojas Conteras.
