Joseph Kenneth Tucker's Obituary
Salt Lake City, UT-Joe passed away from cancer on March 11, 2023 at the William E. Christoffersen Veterans home. He was born in Bayshore NY, to Kenneth and Liguoria Tucker, who have preceded him in death.
After graduating from South Glens Falls High School, Joe joined the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam with the 282 Assault Helicopter Company at Marble Mountain, Danang from 1970-1971. Joe was awarded a purple heart and air medal as a crew chief door gunner on huey helicopter. Joe was married to Karen Jean and later divorced. After many years living in Glens Falls NY, enjoying cross country skiing and helping to raise his nieces, Joe retired from the state transportation department of New York.
After retirement, he traveled to California, where he bought a large motor coach, traveled freely, and enjoyed attending 282 AHC reunions. He made many friends in his last couple years, settling in Salt Lake City, closer to his amigo, Larry Martinez, whom he has known since 1971 in Vietnam.
Services will be held on April 12. Mass will be at 9 am at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 1058 West 400 South, Salt Lake City, followed by military honors at 11 am at Utah Veterans Cemetery (Camp Williams).
