Jeffrey Lyn Mace's Obituary
Jeffrey Lyn Mace, age 58, passed away on July 20th, 2023, after a battle with early onset dementia. He was born January 4th, 1965, to Robert Marvin Mace and Lorraine Jacobsen Mace in Sandy, Utah.
Jeff was a gifted athlete at Jordan High school where he graduated in 1983. He had a natural gift for distance running and was the top runner on the cross-country team at Jordan. He lettered in both cross country and wrestling.
After graduating from Jordan, Jeff served an L.D.S. mission in the Toronto, Canada mission where he served in many leadership roles including Assistant to the President. When he returned home from his mission, he enrolled in a wilderness studies program at the College of Eastern Utah, a course in which he thrived as he loved to be outdoors testing his skills and knowledge. Later he also studied sociology at the University of Utah.
Jeff was an entrepreneur at heart and started many small businesses along the way, some more successful than others. In 2000 however, he started Custom Events, Inc. which grew quickly and became a very successful enterprise. He had a natural knack for the carny business and enjoyed planning and carrying out school carnivals and company picnics. Virtually all of the children in our family and hundreds of their friends got their first jobs with Jeff at Custom Events. The stories they still tell of the carny road trips are epic!
Jeff is survived by his siblings; Joe (Christine), Jerry, Laura (Dan), and Lisa, his nieces and nephews and all their children who absolutely adored their Uncle Jeff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorraine Mace.
A celebration of life will be held in Jeff's memory on Monday August 7th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at David Street Park in Sandy, Utah. He will be interned with his dear mother and father at the West Jordan City cemetery.
We would like to thank the care professionals and Jeff's friends at Millcreek Care Center where he spent the last year of his life and the staff at Wiscombe Memorial for their compassionate service.
Interment will take place at a private family ceremony at the West Jordan City cemetery. There will be a celebration of life on the 7th of August 2023 at the David Street Park, 9661 South David Street, Sandy Utah from one to three PM. Where all who desire will have an opportunity to share their memories of Jeff and enjoy a carny dog.
In lieu of flowers please give someone a hug and let them know they are loved.
