Garret Wayne Butler, age 50, passed away on June 27, 2024. Born on April 4, 1974, Garret was a beloved resident of Sandy, Utah.
Garret was a man of many talents and passions. From flying his drone and crashing into trees. To cherished times spent with his grandchildren, often playing with RC cars. A talented musician, Garret found peace in expressing himself through his drums and guitar. Throughout most of his adult life, he worked as a diesel mechanic before transitioning into a career as a handyman, where he continued to showcase his skills and dedication to helping others.
Despite facing his own personal demons, Garret found strength and redemption through the love of his family. His grandchildren, in particular, played a significant role in helping him become a better person, filling his life with purpose, happiness, and moments of pure joy.
Garret is survived by his wife Shay, his 3 siblings, his 6 children, and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, who passed away before him. Garret's legacy lives on through his family, who will always remember his love, kindness, and his goofy humor.
A celebration of Garret's life will be held on Monday, July 8th, at 6pm at the Lone Peak Park Pavilion in Sandy, Utah. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Garret are invited to attend and share in the memories of his life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the EMTs who worked tirelessly to save Garret and to the ER staff for their kindness and efforts during his final moments.
Garret's willingness to help others and find the joy in the little things is something we should all strive to emulate one day.
