Frederick Dreyfus Korner's Obituary
Frederick Dreyfus Korner of Park City, Utah passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at the age of 96. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 24, 1920 only son to Frederick and Nimmie Buniff - Korner. He was married to Gloria(Marcusy) Korner . Frederick was a veteran of the US Army Infantry during WWII. He fought behind enemy lines in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged due to multiple injuries sustained in that battle. He received several medals including the Combat Medal and the Purple Heart. He was an active member of the Disabled Veterans and The Veterans of Foreign Wars. The patriotism he learned in the service never left him. Frederick transitioned to civilian life where he enjoyed cooking, dancing, sports ,animals and most of all his family.
Frederick is survived by his wife of 74 years Gloria(Marcusy) Korner; his daughters Hilda Hughes (Chuck) and Brenda Carey (Paul). He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Lauren Young (Allyn); and Gretchen Elliott (Blake); three great grandchildren Serena Elliott, Remy Young, and Lily Young.
Frederick was preceded in death by his father Frederick Korner and his mother Nimmie Buniff Korner.
A private military interment will take place at Arlington Cemetery in the near future.
The Korner family would like to give thanks to all the people involved in his care. Special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Nebeker, who cared for him over the last 20 years of his life. Applegate home health Cresia and George. Sandy Health and Rehab, Michelle, Joe, Darryl, Elizabeth and all the nurses and HCA's who cared for him. Brighton Hospice, Lacy, Becky, Allen, and Galen. We would also like to thank our wonderful neighbors who provided a beautiful display of respect and admiration for Frederick's military service and his life especially Rex and Lisa Hardy.
A bright light in our lives has gone out only to be a star in our heaven. We miss you, but know that you are not far away. Until we meet again in heaven, watch over us and protect us as you did here on earth.
