Emily McClure Wimmer's Obituary
Emily McClure Wimmer passed away peacefully on 13 October 2021 in Murray, Utah at the age of 43. She was listening to her favorite music and surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Emily was born in Provo, Utah on 2 June, 1978 to Michael and Annette McClure. She was the fourth of five children. Growing up in west Lehi, Emily and her siblings and friends loved the many fields and wild places around their homes. They played night games, slept on trampolines, swam in the ditches and had all the benefits of living where the stars were brighter than the street lights. She delighted in listening to all sorts of music, but her favorite was country.
Her parents passed on the love of travel at an early age. When she was 8, she went to New York and it fueled her desire for a nomadic lifestyle. While she dreamed of roaming the world, she took advantage of the many simple pleasures such as the backyard, alfalfa fields, horses in the corral, homemade icecream with family, catfish caught out of Utah Lake, and all of the wonderful benefits of rural living.
She graduated from Lehi High School in 1996. In 1997, Emily married Sam Wimmer in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple and later divorced. In 2012, Sam and Emily welcomed Jessica and Vanessa into their family and later adopted them after some legal challenges (It was worth it!). She loved them more than life itself. Emily also adored her dogs; little Penny girl, Bailey, and Boon. Emily loved the beaches but her favorites were those of St. John where she fulfilled her dreams of island living.
Emily worked very hard to achieve her RN certification. She was a great nurse, helping her patients fed her soul. They loved her and will always remember her kind gestures, laughter, and exceptional care.
Emily is survived by her children, Jessica and Vanessa Wimmer and by her parents, Michael and Annette McClure of Fairview, Utah and her siblings; Auralee Brooks (Shawn) of Fairview, Utah, Avrum McClure (Kristin) of Evanston, Wyoming and Carolee Bateman of Sandy, Utah and all of her cherished nieces and nephews, extended family, and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her older brother Michael McClure (Mac), her grandparents and numerous friends and patients. Special thanks to the attending ICU nurse, Chelsey.
We all miss her but we’re happy that Emily found her weathered blue chair on Little Cinnamon Bay listening to Kenny Chesney....being as she is.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
