Del Shannon (Sonny) Lee's Obituary
Del Shannon Lee (Sonny), age 45, of Salt Lake City UT. passed away on December 10th, 2019 surrounded by loved ones at the University of Utah Medical Center due to health complications.
He was born on January 15th, 1974 in Glendale, Arizona to Joey P. Lee and Elsie D. Lee.
Del grew up and spent most of his life on the eastside of Salt Lake City. A brief period of his young life was also spent in St. Anthony, Idaho with his foster family, the Crapo’s. In Salt Lake City, Del attended Roosevelt Elementary, Bryant Intermediate and East High School. He worked in various jobs in local eateries but found his passion in pipe laying, which took him to numerous areas around the United States. Del took pride in doing and sharing stories about his work. In addition to being a dedicated and loving uncle, Del was also a loyal fan to his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his mother Elsie Lee, his brothers Jimmy Dean Begay and Roland Lee, his sister Penelope Lee and his longtime companion Dina Chavez. He also has many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Del was preceded by his father Joey Lee, sister Katrina Tso, aunt Ella Dodson, uncle Wayne Dodson, niece Shirleen Begay and various other family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Life in Christ Christian Reformed Church on 801 East 900 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84105. Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Following the burial services, a light lunch will also be held at the Life in Christ Christian Reformed Church.
