Carol Patricia Caldwell's Obituary
Carol Patricia (Grant) Caldwell, age 71, passed away in her home in Sandy, UT on Friday, March 31, 2017 surrounded by her dogs. She was born to Esther Boros and Charles Green Grant on March 17, 1946 in Provo, Utah.
Carol lived an authentic and dedicated life of service, spirituality, love and fun. She had a strong work ethic and was accomplished as a psychiatric nurse who continued her professional development by obtaining a substance use certificate while working for over twenty years at the Veterans Administration. She was known to work easily with some of the most vulnerable veterans under her care.
Carol was intuitively spiritual and was tenacious in her search for meaning through astrology, Eschatology, A Course in Miracles, affirmations, meditation, Shirley McClain, rebirthing, visiting psychics, sweat lodges, drumming circles, honoring animal totems, Druidic runes, receiving the Dao, tarot cards, and Stuart Smalley platitudes. She developed and maintained strong friendships through these experiences and strived for a peaceful life.
Carol was joyously loving and compassionate; she cared deeply and loyally for her pets and they returned the love throughout her life. She was beloved by family and friends due to her big heart. She was married three times (Tom, Jerry and David) and was preceded in death by her partner, Ted. Nothing seemed to bring Carol more pleasure than supporting her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild meant the world to her.

She laughed easily and often; she loved to have a good time. One of her favorite activities was to attend the movies (candy hiding in her purse) with a big bowl of buttered popcorn. She loved playing video games for hours, Mahjong and Alchemy. Carol appreciated varying cultures and immersed herself in food, art, music, dance and painting. She relished eating food from varying cultures.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Wardell) Morgan (David Morgan, divorced), Taylorsville, UT; son, Brandt Rigby of Portland, OR; granddaughter, Chelsie Kougioulis (Nickolous Kougioulis), great-grandson, Braxton Rahimi, of Murray, UT; and her grandson, Justin Morgan, of Murray UT. Her two dogs, Daisy and Maggie, will miss her terribly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Old Meeting House 4120 South Highland Drive
Salt Lake City, Utah 84124 on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6-10pm. Light refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Community Animal Welfare Society (CAWS).
