Augustine Christopher Trujillo's Obituary
Our brother Augustine Christopher (Chris) Trujillo of Salt Lake City, passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2022. He was 52 years old.
Chris was born in Alamosa, Colorado on March 19, 1970. Our family lived in different cities in that state including Boulder and Pueblo, before moving and residing in Utah.
Chris will be remembered for his love of fishing at places such as Estes Park, Colorado and all the lakes in Utah. As a teenager he enjoyed taking walks with friends, siblings, and cousins; whether it was going to the local grocery store, to see friends, hanging out at the mall, or going down to buy fireworks for the 4th of July.
He enjoyed road trips, visiting and seeing new things and driving. We have many funny stories about Chris borrowing our dad’s big yellow Mercury Country Squire station wagon to cruise around Salt Lake City. While he loved driving any car, his ultimate dream car was a low rider.
In his spare time, Chris liked to cook and barbecue. He also loved music and was a talented drummer who learned and played by ear. He also loved to draw, once crafting the famous Christian portrait The Last Supper from an upside-down position, making it look perfectly upright.
Chris also loved watching movies such as comedies. However, his favorite movie was “Rocky” which inspired him to do some boxing and training.
In addition to boxing, Chris liked other sports such as football, basketball, and wrestling. Every year, he enjoyed a good Super Bowl party with family.
His smile lit up every room and we’ll miss his visits and humor. He liked to talk on the phone and would keep in touch with those he thought of and loved. He would talk about fishing, the outdoors and the paranormal, specifically about possibly spotting Big Foot. He once said he saw the presence of something unusual in the Utah mountains and was wondering if that’s what he witnessed.
Chris joins our beloved mother, Martha Cordelia Trujillo whom he was close to and who recently passed away in late August. He is also preceded in death by his infant son Gabriel Trujillo; our father, Dr. Augustine Trujillo; and our brother, Brian Anthony Trujillo.
Chris is survived by his children; Cesar Antonio Trujillo, Evangeline Sandra Trujillo, three grandchildren and his siblings, Melissa Mondragon (Jason) and Ashly Thorn.
A memorial service for Chris will be held on Friday, October 21 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 S. Redwood Rd., West Jordan, Utah 84084. A rosary service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a mass at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate Chris’ life whether you knew him personally or through his surviving family.
