Douglas Culver Stante

October 28, 1950 - July 1, 2019

Douglas Culver Stante, 68 of South Jordan passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his siblings on July 1, 2019. He was born October 28, 1950 in Chester, Pennsylvania to Mary Evelyn Gourlay and Victor Vincent Stante who have preceded him in death. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era attaining the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was incredibly artistic and gifted with many other talents that he was always willing to share when needed. He had a lovely speaking and singing voice that filled St. Joseph the Worker Church when he served as a Lector. Doug would sing a few bars on karoke nights with friends. He also had other musical talents. Doug taught himself how to play the harmonica and banjo when he was very young and recently had been learning to play the bass guitar. Doug was a lifetime motorcyle rider and joined the Great Salt Lake Chapter 5211 of Harley Owners Group serving as Membership Officer (2010, 2011), Editor, Webmaster(2012), Road Captain and Director(2013, 2014). He was a a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Assoc., National Air & Space Society, National Rifle Assoc., and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Lumenis where he was Director of Global Compliance. Doug is survived and lovingly remembered by his brothers Cameron and Donald and his sister Janet and their families which includes 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great nephews and a great niece. We mourn our loss, but not as those without the Hope of Christ. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at The Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on July 11, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the Chapel located at The Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Funeral Services following at 2:00 P.M. after which Military Honors will be presented at the Graveside at 3:00 P.M. 1711 South Camp Williams Road Bluffdale, UT 84065. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Signature Hospice.
