Cindy LaRue Knapton Young

March 7, 1955 - February 17, 2022

Our loving sister, aunt and friend passed away February 17th, 2022 from complications due to sepsis. She will be missed by all who loved her. Cindy LaRue Knapton Young was born on March 7th, 1955 to parents Dale E. and Connie McComb Knapton. She was the second of six children. She grew up in West Valley City, Utah. She graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah and attended Salt Lake Community College. She married her husband, Bill in 1978 and her son, Nicholas was born in 1979. Cindy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill (2015); son, Nick (2018); her father, Dale (2013) and her mother, Connie (2017). Cindy is survived by her five siblings: Sheryln Knapton, Kanna Meeks (Randy), Holly Lemon (Melvin), Pam Hardy (Shawn), Heidi Knapton and many nieces and nephews. Cindy always made a grand entrance by being dressed to the nines in her clothes, high heels, make up and jewelry. She always wore perfume that lingered long after she left. She had beautiful long hair and skin. She was also a talented artist and singer. Her hobbies included collecting dolls, trinkets and rocks. She loved reading and had a large collection of books and magazines. She enjoyed going to the library and would spend hours doing research. Cindy was always thoughtful of others and loved sending little notes and cards. She never forgot birthdays or holidays. Growing up, Cindy loved to play games with her family; especially Canasta with her Grandma McComb. Later, she became a homemaker and an incredible mom to Nicholas. She was employed at a few gift shops and enjoyed working at them. She loved her nieces and nephews and they knew it. They had so much fun playing at Aunt Cindy's house. Cindy struggled with depression most of her adult life. It was very difficult for her to lose her husband Bill and a sad day when she lost her son Nick. She missed him deeply. We are so grateful to Frank who became a close friend and helped her the last few years after Nick's death. We want to thank the staff at Jordan Valley West Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Cindy. We appreciate all they did. We love you Cindy and will miss you so much. Thanks for the adventure! A Viewing will be held on Friday February 25th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 8029 West 2700 South Magna, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 26th at 12:00PM with a Viewing preceding at 11:00AM at the same location. Interment will be at Camp Williams in Lehi, Utah.
