Betty Jo Louise Pyke

March 18, 1945 - October 15, 2020

Betty Jo Louise (Wright) Pyke passed away on October 15, 2020 at the age of 75. She was born on March 18, 1945 to Lois and Wesley Wright in Salt Lake City, UT. She grew up with a house full of 8 siblings: Bev, Shar, Joe, Jim, Rick, Debbie, Dave and Chrisy. A chaotic childhood, but surrounded by love, nonetheless. Even though she would be forever head over heels for Elvis, she met the love of her life, George E. Pyke, while waitressing at the Jade Café in Salt Lake City, UT. She married George on April 18, 1966 and had three wonderful children: Tammy Pyke, Dena (Jim) Sudbury and Brian Pyke. Together, they enjoyed attending many dart tournaments. While it was his admired hobby, she too, had an impressive aim. Together, they enjoyed a simple life of love and happiness. Together, they watched their children grow and bring grandchildren to their life. George passed in 1998 but Betty continued to live life exactly as her heart desired, knowing that he was watching over her, never letting her love for him fade. She spent the rest of her years filling her heart with happiness by her family and warmly embracing every new face along the way. She was known as “Grandma” to everyone. She had 6 grandchildren of whom meant the world to her: Malissa (Tom) Gero, Scott Pyke, Joshua Pyke, Krystal (Reed) Taylor, Cindy (Dan) Hinojosa and Michelle (Markus) Sudbury. She also had 6 great grandchildren of whom gave her the adoring name of “GG” (her proudest title): Jordan Pyke, Jayson Pyke, Jaxson Taylor, Liam Taylor, Avery Hinojosa and Owen Hinojosa. She was a woman who worked hard, played hard and fought hard. She led her way through life with a tireless, fierce determination. One we will carry on in her memory. She was our “Betty Boop”, she was our angel on earth and may she be our butterfly in heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Dena Sudbury and son, Brian Pyke, along with her grandchildren, Malissa, Scott, Krystal, Cindy, Michelle and her great grandchildren, Jayson, Jaxson, Liam, Avery and Owen. Please join us for a celebration of Betty’s life on Sunday, November 1st at 11:00 am at the Labrum Memorial Park at 6041 S Jordan Canal Road, Taylorsville, UT 84129. We will be sharing our favorite memories and sending our wishes for her into the skies.
